The National Bureau of Statistics of Tanzania (NBS) indicates that the Annual Headline Inflation Rate remained unchanged at 4.5% in October 2016 as in September 2016.
Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Inflation Rate recorded in October 2016 stagnated at 6.0% as in September 2016.
The Annual Inflation Rate for food consumed at home and away from home decreased to 6.0% in October 2016 from 6.1% recorded in September 2016.
The 12-month index change for non-food products increased to 2.9% in October 2016 from 2.7% in September 2016.
The Annual Inflation Rate, excluding food and energy, stagnated at 2.4% in October 2016, as in September 2016.
The purchasing power of 100 Tanzanian Shillings reached TZS96 and 92 cents in October 2016 from December 2015. It was TZS97 and 04 cents in September 2016.
After a peak of 6.8% in December 2015, inflation in Tanzania has been steadily decreasing, reaching 5.1% in April 2016, slightly increasing to 5.5% in June, and again, falling to 5.1% in July, 4.9% in August, and 4.5% in September and October 2016.
